Troubleshooting Guide
Fixes for the most common download and transcript problems.
"Invalid URL" or nothing happens
- Make sure the link starts with https://
- Remove extra text the app adds when sharing (e.g. "Check out this video!").
- Use the Share → Copy link button instead of the browser bar.
"Video is private or unavailable"
- Open the link in a private/incognito window — if you can't watch it logged out, it can't be downloaded.
- The video may be deleted, region-locked, age-restricted or members-only.
Download opens in a new tab instead of saving
- Desktop: right-click the video → Save video as…
- Android: tap ⋮ → Download.
- iPhone/iPad (Safari): tap the Share icon → Save to Files, or long-press → Download Linked File.
The file has no sound
- Set Mode to Auto (video + audio), not Mute.
- Try a lower quality — very high resolutions are delivered as separate streams.
- Play the file in VLC to rule out a player codec issue.
The file won't play
- Install VLC Media Player (free, all platforms).
- On iPhone, open the file from the Files app rather than Photos.
- If it's a .webm, convert it or use VLC.
"Too many requests" / rate limited
- Wait 1–2 minutes and try again.
- Platforms temporarily limit repeated requests from the same server — this clears by itself.
Transcript not found
- The video needs captions (uploaded or auto-generated). Brand-new uploads may not have them yet.
- Switch the language track from the dropdown.
Slow downloads
- Large 4K files take time — try 1080p.
- Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi.
- Pause other downloads or VPNs that may throttle speed.
Download button does nothing on iPhone
- Update iOS/Safari, or try Chrome for iOS.
- Turn off content blockers for savevd.site.
- Tap and hold the button, then choose Download Linked File.
